Why TecMig E7018 is called "one of the best E7018"

 TecMig E7018 is an iron powder , low hydrogen basic carbon steel electrode designed for all positional welding. Excellent mechanical performance , impact value can be as high as 150J @ -30 ℃. AC & DC.

 

Used to weld the Marine steels (ABDEAH36DH36EH36and the same grade strength low carbon steel structures, like BoilersPressure Vessels and Offshore drilling platforms etc.

 

It is one of the best sellers in many markets, but many people don’t know how to judge on E7018 quality, today let’s discuss together on this:

 

1, Mechanical properties:

Since E7018 is used for welding more important components of over 500Mpa, mechanical properties are of vital importance.

Below are requirements of E7018 mechanical properties by AWS A5.1 standards as well as typical values of TecMig E7018

As you can see, TecMig E7018 mechanical properties are well above the AWS standard. Especially the low temperature impact value are very high compared with all other brands in the market (normally 70-90J), making TecMig E7018 a better choice for important welding jobs and those components subjected to consistent impacts.

TecMig E7018 chemical composition comply with AWS standard.

 

Some factories use Q195 as wire rods of E7018 electrodes to cut the costs. As Q195 is made of recycled steels, the chemical compositions of these E7018 do not always comply with AWS A5.1 standards, making the mechanical properties not stable too.

 

TecMig only use H08A from big steel factories to produce E7018, the chemical compositions and mechanical properties are very well controlled.

 

3, Weldability

 

Weldability is very important for welding rods as it directly influence the efficiency of welding jobs.

Weldabilities are influenced by the chemical compositions of welding rods, thus those E7018 made from Q195 wire rods have bad weldabilities because there are too many bad chemicals in the rods, including P, S, etc.

Because of all the fine materials and time-proven formula we use in E7018 manufacturing, TecMig E7018 has very good weldabilities, that is why Hyundai welding used to praise our E7018 as “one of the best E7018 in China” after testing samples from most major manufacturers in China.

 

4, Efficiency

 

As TecMig E7018 has 25% iron powder in the flux coating, making the deposition rate as high as 120% ( weld metal weight / core rod weight).

All other manufacturers add only 12-18% iron powder in the flux coating, thus the deposition rate only about 100%.

The difference of deposition rate can be shown on the weld bead hight. TecMig E7018 welding bead is much higher than those other E7018,

That means, for a certain welding job, if it takes 6 pcs of E7018 from other manufactures, 5 pcs of TecMig E7018 will be enough.

Using TecMig E7018, you can save not only money, but also time.
